Our Black Death: Plagues, Turnips, and Other Romantic Gestures
December 2024 — This beautiful play, written by Lindsay Carpenter, is a wild romp to read, and even more to direct. I had the great fortune of bringing this show to the stage with five talented actors at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. The play is a comedy, despite its evocations of a plague. It investigates isolation, fear, uncertainty, obsession, and doubt with a ferociously light touch. It is a feather with a razor’s edge.
The production was rehearsed and performed in rep with another show. I could not be more proud of the work the actors were able to produce over the course of these rehearsals.

Infinity
December 2024 — The other of two plays directed and performed in rep at the Stella Adler Theatre, this play by Hannah Moscovich is unflinching in its depiction of love. Of course there are kind words, moments of intimacy, birth… but there are also moments of what can only be described as cruelty. It is a peculiar aspect of our deepest relationships that they have the flexibility to tolerate these powerful extremes.

The Bottoming Process
May-June 2023 — I was hired as an alternate for the World Premiere production of The Bottoming Process by Nicholas Pilapil.
“Two writers meet at WeWork and fall in love—or something like it. One is a famed novelist, and the other is a nobody who's mostly funny on Twitter. One is nearing middle age, and the other is flailing through their twenties. One is White, and the other is definitely Not. As they mate, date, and cohabitate, they'll grapple with issues of race, sex, power, and the model minority myth, all to find out who's really on top.”

Tambo & Bones
May 2022 — I had the great fortune of joining the cast of the World Premiere co-Production of Tambo & Bones by Dave Harris, presented by Center Theatre Group and Playwrights Horizons.
“Tambo and Bones are two characters trapped in a minstrel show. It’s hard to feel like a real person when you’re trapped in a minstrel show. Their escape plan: get out, get rich, get even. Imaginative and provocative, Tambo & Bones is a daring and explosive rags-to-riches roast of America’s past, present, and future at the intersection of racism and capitalism. And what’s at stake, for those deemed less-than-human, is the fate of humanity itself.”

It’s a Fairy Tale After All
November 2019 — A feature film written and directed by Eric Peter Carlson.
Little Shop of Horrors
Oct - Nov 2019 — I had the great honor of being one of five members of the puppeteering team in the critically acclaimed production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Pasadena Playhouse.
I was involved in construction as well as performance of the puppets used in the production, which reimagined the classic show using a technique known as “Czech black light puppetry”.
All That Is Left Behind
A site specific adaptation of TS Eliot’s “The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock” and “The Waste Land”. The adaptation was written in consultation with the actors, and utilized a single location in order to replicate the cacophony of Eliot’s pieces.
